What is AS 4687?

The three things the standard actually checks
- Strength — panels, frames and clamps must withstand defined loads without permanent deformation. Welds and tube wall thickness are what deliver this.
- Stability — the installed fence must resist overturning from wind and incidental impact. This is where most non-compliant systems fail.

Wind loading: the number one failure point
A 2100 × 2400 mm fence panel is effectively a sail. Add shade cloth or printed banner mesh — which site managers love for dust control and advertising — and wind load multiplies several times over. Panels themselves rarely fail an inspection — hardware does. Undersized clamps that slip, thin-wall frame tube that kinks, and stays sold as optional extras when the design needs them. A compliant system is panels plus feet plus clamps plus stays, engineered together.
